General Caleb Akandwanaho, the Operation Wealth Creation chief coordinator and Senior Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security, has urged Uganda's ambassadors at missions abroad to actively market the country’s successful economic initiatives on the international stage.

Delivering the keynote address during the opening of a five-day ambassadors’ retreat at Gulu University, Gen. Akandwanaho, also known as Salim Saleh, encouraged the 78 participating ambassadors and their accounting officers to promote Uganda’s economic programmes in order to attract investment and development opportunities.

Foreign affairs minister Jeje Odongo highlighted the global threats affecting Uganda, including terrorism, reduced humanitarian aid and increased tariffs from foreign nations, which pose risks to the country’s stability and development.

Similarly, foreign affairs state minister Henry Okello Oryem advised the ambassadors to closely monitor the political and economic situations in neighbouring countries such as Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which he said negatively impact Uganda’s economy by disrupting trade and business activities.
