President Yoweri Museveni has directed that the former director general of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka, be accorded an official burial following his on January 29, 2025.
The Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, announced the news on X, formerly Twitter, on January 31, 2025.
“Accordingly, the N.O.C [national organising committee] will liaise with the family to finalise arrangements. Profound condolences to the family, ISO, the people of Teso and Ugandans at large on losing such a dedicated and friendly officer. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the minister said.
An official burial means that the Government will cover all expenses and accord a gun salute to the former ISO boss described by many as a consummate professional.
Oluka collapsed during a family prayer session and was rushed to Seguku Hospital on Entebbe Road, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
