Ggaba national seminarians colour Lubaga Cathedral chrism mass
The mass was beautifully animated by the major Seminarians from Ggaba National Seminary, who demonstrated impressive expertise in singing the Latin Gregorian chants as well as the local hymns composed by native Ugandan composers.

On Holy Thursday (March 28, 2024), the Catholic laity and priests of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala converged at Lubaga Cathedral (in Rubaga Division) for the traditional Chrisim mass during which the faithful commemorate the institution of the Catholic Sacraments.
The mass was presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop, Paul Ssemogerere. The concelebrants included Nuncio Augustine Kasujja and the Bishop Emeritus of Kotido, the Rt. Rev. Giuseppe Filippi.

The mass was beautifully animated by the major Seminarians from Ggaba National Seminary, who demonstrated impressive expertise in singing the Latin Gregorian chants as well as the local hymns composed by native Ugandan composers.
During the solemn function, Archbishop Ssemogerere blessed the sacramental oils, that is, the Oil of the Catechumens, the oil of the sick and Sacred Chrism (olive oil that is also mixed with balsam).

Holy Chrism is used during the celebration of sacraments including Confirmation, Baptism and Ordination. Chrism is also used during the consecration of Churches.
