Ggaba murder trial delayed after journalist injured by prison van

KAMPALA - Panic gripped Ggaba Community Churchyard, where the trial of a man accused of killing four toddlers at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre was taking place after a prison van carrying the suspect reportedly failed to brake and knocked an online journalist.

Ronald Mulwana, working with PL online media platform, was injured by a prison van, delaying the trial that had been scheduled to start at exactly 9:00 am. Mulwana, who was seriously injured, was rushed to hospital for medical attention.

At the time of the incident, the trial judge, Alice Komuhangi Khaukha, had not yet taken her seat. However, prosecutors, defence lawyers and court officials were already in the tent where the proceedings were taking place.

Christopher Onyum Okello is accused of killing four toddlers at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre on April 2, 2026.

The victims include Ryan Odeke (1.5 years), Keisha Agenorwoth Otim (2 years), Gideon Eteku (2.5 years) and Ignatius Sseruyange (2.5 years).

His trial commenced on Monday, April 13, 2026 and was expected to resume today. So far, six witnesses have testified in the matter.
