Gen. Saleh hits back at land-grabbing attacks

Gen. Salim Saleh, the chief coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), has distanced himself from claims linking him to structures recently demolished during an operation by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) against encroachers in the Kalidubi wetland along the Entebbe Expressway near Kigo.

Responding to allegations made in a viral TikTok video, in which a resident accused NEMA of conspiring with him to demolish people's houses and further claimed that he owns a hotel in the area, Gen. Saleh dismissed the assertions as false and cautioned against the irresponsible use of social media and freedom of speech.

In a statement widely circulated on various platforms, including Operation Wealth Creation social media accounts, Gen. Saleh said he does not own the structures referenced in the video and rejected any attempt to associate him with the disputed property.

The senior presidential advisor on defence and security also hinted at forthcoming disclosures regarding ownership of land and properties within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA), a region comprising Kampala and the surrounding districts of Wakiso, Mukono, and Mpigi.

In his statement, Saleh referenced several government land management institutions, including the Uganda Land Commission (ULC), which manages government land; the Kampala District Land Board (KDLB), responsible for district land administration; the National Housing and Construction Company (NHCC), a state-owned real estate developer; and the Buganda Land Board (BLB), which manages land belonging to the Buganda Kingdom.
