Gen Kainerugaba bids farewell to outgoing British High Commissioner

During the meeting on Friday, August 2, hosted at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) Headquarters in Mbuya, Airey also bid farewell to the CDF as her tour of duty in Uganda comes to an end.

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, has held talks with Kate Airey, the outgoing British High Commissioner to Uganda.

During the meeting on Friday, August 2, hosted at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) Headquarters in Mbuya, Airey also bid farewell to the CDF as her tour of duty in Uganda comes to an end.

The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) in a statement shared on Friday said Gen Kainerugaba expressed his gratitude for Airey's significant contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and the United Kingdom. He also wished her continued success in her future endeavours.

UK Defence Attaché to Uganda, Lt Col Ash Wiseman, attended the meeting, where Gen Kainerugaba, a distinguished alumnus of the UK’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the strong relations between the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and the British Armed Forces.

Gen Kainerugaba and the high commissioner last met in April when Airey visited the former to congratulate him upon his appointment as CDF.  She also delivered a congratulatory letter from Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, British Chief of Defence Staff.
