The discovery of a body of a four-year-old girl in a maize garden has left the residents of Mokolo East village in Adjumani district in shock.
Emily Juru was reported missing on Sunday (October 11) at around 6pm, having last been seen playing with fellow children in the neighbourhood earlier in the day.
When she did not resurface, what was an ordinary day suddenly turned into a frantic search for the young girl.
Hours later, what her family and the search party had feared became reality when they discovered Juru's body Monday morning.
Mokolo East village is located in Adjumani Town Council.

Emily Juru was reported missing on Sunday (October 11) at around 6pm.
"Yesterday [Sunday] in the evening, I received a call from Samuel Amule that his daughter was missing. So, with the few youths around, we searched in vain up to 11pm. Then today morning, the body was discovered by one of my sisters," he said.
The village leader urged residents to remain security-alert and ensure their children do not stray from their respective homes, especially during late hours.
Police, accompanied by a sniffer dog, visited the scene to conduct preliminary investigations.
No arrests were made immediately and neither was the motive known at the time.
The girl's body was taken to Adjumani Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident by the time of writing this report.
