KWANIA - Police in Kwania district have arrested five people in connection with alleged criminal acts linked to political activities that disrupted parts of Aduku sub-county early January 22, 2026.

North Kyoga region Police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema says the incidents occurred in Acut village, Apire parish, and were registered under CRB 029/2026 and CRB 030/2026.

He said the Police in Kwania received reports of an illegally staged roadblock and attacks on civilians, allegedly orchestrated by individuals travelling in a white Land Cruiser UBD 287Y.

It is alleged that the suspects, who were armed with sticks, pangas, catapults, bows and arrows, as well as improvised tyre cutters, maliciously damaged people’s vehicles using stones and arrows.

Following a swift Police response, five suspects identified as George Ongom, Innocent Obaa, Jonathan Olwala, Bonny Ojok and Calvin Ojok, were arrested and Police also recovered assorted weapons from the Land Cruiser, which was allegedly used to stage the roadblock.

About 45 minutes later, at around 6:45am, Police received a second report from Henry Olila, a 36-year-old peasant from Ngelenyang Village in Apire Parish, alleging that the same vehicle dropped off several people at his home, who then trespassed onto his property.

The district Police commander responded promptly after being alerted by the complainant, before the situation escalated further.

The individuals who directly attacked Olila’s home are still at large, though Okema said they are known to the complainant and efforts to arrest them are ongoing.
