Butambala County Member of Parliament Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi has been arrested, the Uganda Police Force have said.
In a social media post this Thursday, January 22, 2026, morning, the Katonga Police region spokesperson confirmed the arrest, saying Kivumbi is currently in Police custody and will be arraigned before court in due course.
His arrest, according to the Police, is in connection with recent incidents of political violence in Butambala during the aftermath of the General Election on January 15.
