As the grand celebration of the 100th anniversary of Kampala city-based Rubaga Cathedral gets closer, the Catholic faithful and other people of goodwill have continued to donate money towards the preparation of the function.
On August 20, 2025, Kampala Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere, together with members of Rubaga Cathedral centennial organising committee, hosted the Christians of Entebbe Vicariate to the weekly fundraising function dubbed Lamaga, Yooyota Lubaga Cathedral, intended to raise money for the preparation of the celebration.
During the function at the cathedral square, the Christians (and other special guests) donated shillings 91 million.
The Christians donated money under the umbrella of their respective parishes, including Entebbe, Mpala, Kisubi, Namasuba, Ndejje, Nakawuka, Nabbingo, Buyege, Buloba, Kibiri, Kabulamuliro, Lweza, Bunnamwaya, Kasenge, and Kyengera parishes.
Archbishop Ssemogerere thanked the Christians of Entebbe Vicariate for their sacrificial love and commitment to the cathedral’s redevelopment.
“Seeing you here makes me very happy. It is a demonstration of your generosity and goodwill. Today is a working day and many of you have work and other important things do but you have decided to be here. This shows the love you have for your faith,” he said.
