Entebbe Vicariate launches Ssabasumba self-reliance fund
The Ssabasumba Annual Appeal Fund is a special self-reliance fund through which the Archbishop of Kampala finances projects of common benefit and supports the neediest parishes in the archdiocese.

The Vicar General of the Kampala Archdiocese, Msgr. Rogers Mukasa Kabuye, has urged Christians in Entebbe Vicariate and across all parishes in the archdiocese to remain steadfast in their devotion and service to the Church.
He said the many challenges and responsibilities Christians face, both in their parishes and in their personal lives, should strengthen rather than weaken their commitment to the Church.
"We know you are doing many things in your parishes. Some of you are building churches and presbyteries. You also have challenges and responsibilities in your homes. You have to provide for your families. You have to pay school fees for your children. Please don't get tired. Remain firm and steadfast, knowing that the work you are doing is not yours; it is God's work," Msgr. Kabuye said.
He made the remarks during the launch of the Ssabasumba Annual Appeal Fund (SAAFU) fundraising drive for Entebbe Catholic Vicariate at Kisubi Catholic Parish on Entebbe Road in Wakiso District on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Msgr. Kabuye commended Christians for their generous contributions to SAAFU and encouraged them to give even more generously.
The Director of SAAFU, Fr. Timothy Lukananso, told Christians that proceeds from this year's campaign will be used to construct a home for elderly and sick priests at Bweya in Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District. He added that, once completed, the facility would not be reserved for priests alone but would also serve members of the public in need of its services.
The Chairman of SAAFU, Edward Kanyike, said the campaign aims to raise Shs20 billion, a target he believes can easily be achieved if every Catholic in the archdiocese contributes just Shs10,000 annually.
The Head of the Laity of the Kampala Archdiocese, Emily Kitto Mwaka, urged the faithful to demonstrate the Church's strength by supporting its projects more generously.
"When we were in Nairobi for the Plenary Assembly of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA), every facility we used belonged to the Church. Next year, Uganda will host the gathering. Are we, as Catholics, in a position to provide all the required facilities and services? Please, let us support the Church's projects more generously," Mwaka said.
The Pastoral Coordinator of the Kampala Archdiocese, Fr. Dr. Ambrose Bwangatto, who was the homilist, called for greater solidarity and teamwork among the Catholic faithful.
A total of sh110m was raised during the function.
