A total of 365 Chinese nationals have been arrested during an operation conducted on Thursday (July 09) evening and Friday (July 10) by joint security agencies in Entebbe municipality and Katabi town council, in Wakiso district.
The intelligence-led operation was conducted at two hotels in Garuga, Nalugala ward, Katabi town council and Bugonga in Entebbe municipality.
A source privy to the operation confided that whereas a bigger number was arrested, preliminary screening found some of them in possession of valid travel and work documents.
"Those were released instantly, while others without proper travel and work documents were detained," a source stated.
When contacted, Kituuma Rusoke, the police spokesperson, revealed that the foreign nationals were arrested on suspicion of illegal entry into the country and engaging in cyber offences.
"They have since been handed over to immigration," Rusoke said.
