“Debrah! Come and help your husband. He is here dying! Your children have studied. I’m here suffering!” the killer’s voice is heard saying.
“The suspect was fully masked, dressed in blue surgical gloves, a blue shirt, brown sweater pants with white stripes, and black open sandals,” Kituuma said.
KAMPALA - Police have offered a cash reward of shillings 50 million to anyone who can identify the voice of a masked man suspected to have murdered an elderly couple in Entebbe recently.
David Mutaaga and his wife, Deborah Mutaaga, were on July 6, 2025, brutally murdered in Lugonjo–Nakiwogo cell, Entebbe municipality, in what authorities describe as a premeditated and callous attack.
Speaking to the media on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala city, Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma said the suspect, whose identity remains unknown, was recorded speaking moments before or during the double homicide.
“He was fully masked, dressed in blue surgical gloves, a blue shirt, brown sweater pants with white stripes, and black open sandals,” Kituuma said.
“The weapon used is believed to have been a knife. We now call upon the public to help us identify him using his voice.”

Killer’s voice captured
Investigators recovered a voice recording believed to have captured the suspect interacting with the victims during the fatal encounter.
The recording was played for journalists during the briefing, and police say it will be widely circulated through official platforms.
In the audio, the suspect appears agitated, referring to past grievances and calling out to Deborah, believed to be the late Mutaaga, as her husband pleads for his life.
“Debrah! Come and help your husband. He is here dying! Your children have studied. I’m here suffering!” the killer’s voice is heard saying.
In the background, Mutaaga can be heard begging for his life, but the assailant continues, apparently unmoved.
The suspect’s tone is forceful, erratic and emotionally charged, which Police believe could be recognisable to someone familiar with him.
Kituuma said the voice may be the crucial lead in solving the case.
“We believe there are people out there—friends, neighbors, former colleagues—who can recognize this voice. That’s why we’re offering Shs50 million, in cash, immediately, to anyone whose tip leads to his arrest,” he said.
Emergency hotline, full confidentiality
An emergency line has been set up for the public to submit leads: 0769 675 918 “This number is open to everyone—members of the community, friends, even journalists. Your information could make all the difference, and your identity will be fully protected,” Kituuma stressed.

The reward, he added, is part of a broader strategy to mobilize the community against a killer who took the lives of a well-known elderly couple under horrifying circumstances.
Calculated killing
The assailant’s careful disguise has made identification difficult. Kituuma said the use of a full head mask, gloves, and non-distinctive clothing was clearly intended to conceal identity and avoid leaving evidence behind.
But, police say, the voice recording offers a unique forensic opportunity—something that cannot be hidden behind a mask.
“All our agencies—crime intelligence, forensic teams, and homicide detectives—have been working around the clock. We are now at a stage where public participation can turn the case,” Kituuma said.
