His visit to Uganda follows the conclusion of the Africa Forward Summit 2026 in Nairobi, which was co-hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenya’s William Ruto.

The two-day summit aimed to strengthen African-French partnerships in innovation, growth and development financing, and brought together presidents and prime ministers from over 20 countries, global and regional organisation chiefs, as well as more than 2,500 business leaders, investors, and young innovators.
