Easter is supposed to be a season of hope for Christians as it marks the end of Lent season and the commemoration of Jesus' resurrection. However, the season was filled with doom and gloom for the relatives of 46 people who were tragically murdered.

The murders also saw the arrest of 52 suspects in connection with the cases reported during this time, according to Police publicist Fred Enanga.

Speaking to journalists at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, Enanga on Tuesday disclosed that 62 incidents were reported throughout the Easter period, marking an increase from the 44 cases registered during the same period last year (2023).

Among the reported cases, Enanga highlighted nine instances of aggravated robbery, four cases of domestic violence, eight incidents of murder, and 10 occurrences of mob justice.

Enanga further revealed that the regions most affected by the reported incidents during the Easter period were Rwenzori West, Katonga, Kampala, and the Albertine region.

Conversely, regions such as Kidepo and Elgon registered the lowest number of reported cases, with some even reporting no incidents at all.
