As Christians prepare for Easter celebrations in various churches in the country, the leadership of churches have been urged to implement security measures to ensure the safety of their flock.

The advice by the general overseer Archbishop of the National Fellowship of Born-Again Pentecostal churches in Uganda, Dr Moses Odongo, was made as he delivered his Easter message in Soroti city on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

“During this Easter season, let us remain vigilant during church services and all social events. Churches should implement necessary security measures to ensure the safety of all worshipers,” Odongo said.

Easter season begins with the Way of the Cross and will end on Easter Monday next week.

Odongo appealed to the religious leaders to embrace integrity and the culture of accountable leadership.

“Let us also resolve to join hands in fighting corruption that is depriving delivery of social services to the locals,” Odongo said.

As the country prepares for the national census in May, Odongo urged all the Born-Again to take part in the exercise so that their numbers are established.

“I encourage all the Born-Again Christians nationwide to participate and ensure that they insist on being ticked as Born-Again Christians,” Odongo said.

The archbishop also urged the public to work on boosting household income and embracing the Parish Development Model programme and recognise the urgency of addressing climate change by routinely engaging in tree planting.

He emphasized the need for reconciliation, forgiveness, love and unity in the communities they live in.
