Lawmakers from the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) are set to visit Namunkekera Industrial Park on December 1, 2025.

Organisers say the visit will showcase Uganda’s manufacturing potential, highlight locally produced goods and give members an opportunity to benchmark best practices.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Joseph Ntakirutimana, announced the visit while presiding over Wednesday’s plenary session on November 26, 2025.

“A tour of Kapeeka industrial park in Nakaseke district is planned for Monday, December 01, 2025. Departure is at 7:30 am, and breakfast will be taken there at 9:30 am. The visit to the Inspectorate of Government, that visit has been withdrawn,” he disclosed.

Namunkekera Industrial Park was one of the flagship projects under Operation Wealth Creation, designed to transform land into productive industrial zones. It now hosts more than thirty factories employing close to 10,000 workers.

The regional parliament has been sitting in Kampala since November 23 and will conclude its business on October 4 this year.

After that, inter-parliamentary games and a summit of heads of state from the eight member states will take place in Nairobi on December 6, 2025, with Mogadishu set to host the next edition of the games.

Although the permanent seat of the Assembly is in Arusha, Article 55 of the treaty provides that its meetings may be held at such times and places as the Assembly may appoint.

“We had the 20th meeting of bureau of speakers on November 14, 2025, in Kampala. That meeting followed the meeting of clerks that had taken place from 12th to 13th November 2025. The outcome was that the next games will take place in Somalia. Meaning that Somalia has taken the chair of the Speaker’s bureau,” Ntakirutimana revealed.

This year’s games, scheduled to take place in Kampala, will be held under the theme ‘Advancing Integration through EAC Parliamentary Games.’

“With the main venue for football being Phillip Omondi in Lugogo and Kadiba in Wakaliga. The other venue for indoor games will be Makerere University and Ham Stadium, Nakivubo. In Ham, you can do four sports at a go, you can have Volleyball, football, netball and darts taking place in the same venue,” Gerald Blacks Siranda announced on Monday this week.

Athletics will take place at Namboole Stadium.

The East African Legislative Assembly derives its mandate from Article 9 of the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community.
