The event was one of the precursor activities for the grand celebration of the diocese’s 50th-anniversary celebration, which will take place at All Saints Cathedral, Kampala on Sunday, August 21, 2022.

Led by the diocese’s Assistant Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Hannington Mutebi, the Christians, who included children and elderly persons, marched from the Cathedral to St. John’s Church of Uganda, using the Kampala/Bombo Road.

Clerics and lay evangelists proclaimed the golden jubilee of the diocese and also preached to the by-standers and working business people as the march progressed.

Delivering his homily at one of the stations, Bishop Mutebi put it to the city dwellers to come to the personal knowledge of God, and His Son Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

He further asked them to walk in the ways of God so that Kampala remains a beautiful and secure city for everyone.

During a stop-over at the Makerere University Main Gate, the Head of the Laity of St. Francis Chapel, Makerere (who is also the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Golden Jubilee of the diocese of Kampala), Peter Kizza Mwesigwa prayed for a blessing of prosperity upon the university.

Mwesigwa also prophesied an end to all the irregularities that have previously bedevilled Makerere and declared a new era of peace, love, harmony and prosperity for the university.
