Customers stranded as power outage interrupts MTN services

Hundreds of MTN Uganda subscribers have since today morning (July 05) been left stranded after most of the telecommunications company's services abruptly went off.
As a result, the telecommunications company's subscribers could not access services such as making calls, loading data using the internet, as well as sending or receiving mobile money.
According to a statement issued by MTN Uganda, the services went off due to a power outage.
"Following a major power outage at one of our data centres earlier today, a segment of our customers experienced disruptions to voice, data and MoMo services. Service restoration is underway, and our technical teams are working to restore all affected services as quickly as possible," the MTN statement said.
The telecommunications firm added; "we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding."
