Court scraps sh100,000 stamp duty on professional licenses

The ruling followed a petition filed by several professional bodies including the Uganda Law Society, Uganda Medical Association, Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers, Institution of Surveyors of Uganda, and Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda, among others.

The Constitutional Court has scraped a stamp duty of sh100,000 paid by professionals annually for licenses or certificates to practice, ruling that it is illegal.
