Court orders medical report on Besigye’s fitness to stand trial

The judge, therefore, directed the Commissioner General of Prisons to get in touch with doctors at Mulago Hospital, where Besigye is admitted and obtain a medical report specifically indicating whether he is medically fit to stand trial. During the proceedings, Besigye remained admitted at Mulago Hospital, while his co-accused, Haji Obeid Lutale and Uganda People’s Defence Forces’ Capt. Denis Oola, were in court.

On Besigye’s absence, the judge said there was a letter from the Prisons authorities accompanied by a medical report confirming that Besigye had been admitted at Mulago Hospital.
