The City Hall Magistrate’s Court has issued a warrant of arrest against a logistics officer implicated in a sh14b gold fraud.
The court today (October 28) issued the warrant of arrest against Moses Asiimwe, a logistics officer with Iron Wood Limited and resident of Buziga in Makindye Division, Kampala, for dodging court after he was granted bail of sh1m cash.
The warrant of arrest came after Asiimwe failed to show up in court presided over by senior principal magistrate Nicholas Aisu today.
Represented by lawyers; Dickens Kagarura and Akram Kijjambu, Magistrate Aisu granted the accused bail early this month and ordered him to return to court today, but he did not show up.
The accused's lawyer told court that Asiimwe has been in and out of hospital ever since he was released from prison and presented medical documents allegedly from Case Hospital, where he receives treatment.
State prosecutors Mariam Akite and Mercy Yamangusho told court that if Asiimwe is attending medication from home, nothing should stop him from attending court sessions. The prosecutors, therefore, asked court to issue a warrant of arrest against him.
The trial magistrate agreed with the prosecution team and issued the warrant of arrest, stating that nothing could stop Asiimwe from attending court as he receives treatment. Asiimwe's co-accused were present in court and their case was adjourned to December 3, 2026, for mention.

Asiimwe is charged together with 10 others, including four police officers, over obtaining sh14b by false pretense from an investor in a fraudulent gold deal.

It is further alleged that Asiimwe and others still at large between July 2025 and May 2026 were found in possession of 190 bars and 32kgs of Nuggets suspected to be gold without a mineral dealers' license, import and export permit, as required by the Mining and Minerals Act of 2022.
