A delegation of six high-ranking officials from the Communist Party of China (CPC) arrived in Uganda Tuesday evening.

They are here to strengthen the bilateral co-operation between their party and Uganda's ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

The team was officially welcomed at Entebbe International Airport by Capt. Mike Mukula, the NRM vice-president for eastern region, flanked by Amb. Barbara Nekesa, the party's treasurer.

The Chinese delegation was led by Li Mingxiang, the vice-minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC).

In welcoming the Chinese visitors, Mukula represented President Yoweri Museveni, the national chairman of NRM.

Lauding China's support to Uganda, he assured the delegates of continued ties between the two ruling political parties and their respective governments.

"I want, therefore, to say that your visit to Uganda is a further crystallization of the relationship between our two sister countries," said Mukula.

It was noted that several programmes and development projects have been implemented in the NRM party courtesy of the collaboration with the CPC.

China remains a strong partner to Uganda, supporting several development programmes in the fields of education, agriculture and infrastructural development.

On his part, Mingxiang said it is his first time in Uganda.

He was accompanied by;

- Zhou Guohui, the deputy director general, fourth bureau IDCPC

- Liang Anping, the director fourth bureau IDCPC

- Pan Jiqiang, the class II principal staff member, general office IDCPC

- Zhang Lianchuang, the class II principal staff member, fourth bureau IDCPC

Rogers Mulindwa, NRM's communication and information manager, said several meetings and engagements have been arranged for the visit.
