Colourful celebrations mark Kisubi Minor Seminary platinum jubilee

Kisubi Minor Seminary came alive in colour, music and reflection on June 27 as it marked its platinum jubilee with a grand celebration that brought together church leaders, alumni and hundreds of guests.
The day began with a eucharistic celebration held at the seminary playground and presided over by the Archbishop of Kampala, Paul Ssemogerere, assisted by seminary alumni emeritus Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, alongside hundreds of priests who studied at Kisubi.

In his message, the Archbishop praised the seminary for its role in forming future priests. He also highlighted the missionary dimension of the church.
Surviving pioneer alumnus from the 1950s, Joseph Ssempiiri, was also present. The rector welcomed the gathering and presented a succinct report on the Seminary’s activities, noting the generous support from individuals, parents, well-wishers and others.
Currently, over 300 priests who studied at the seminary are serving in various capacities.
The event featured vibrant entertainment from seminarians, with their well-blended creativity widely appreciated by the audience.
Alumni, neighbours, leaders, parents, relatives of seminarians, benefactors, religious leaders and the laity participated in large numbers.
Over its 75 years, the seminary has been the alma mater of more than 2,000 individuals, including over 300 priests who have served in different parts of the country and abroad.
The celebration concluded with old students marching according to their respective years of graduation.
