Christians told to remember God's faithfulness at Nkongoro thanksgiving

“Expressing gratitude to God for His faithfulness is not optional for a believer. It is worship, and it opens the door for more blessings,” Rev. Benon preached.

Christians in Nkongoro Archdeaconry, East Ruwenzori Diocese, have been urged to reflect on God's faithfulness as the foundation for receiving continued blessings.

The call was made by Rev. Chance Benon, principal of Kyabenda Divinity College, during a thanksgiving service organised in honour of Yonan Muhwezi, the Kamwenge district secretary for works and production, following his recent election victory.

Rev. Benon said Muhwezi's decision to hold a thanksgiving service reflected a grateful Christian heart, describing the occasion as an act of worship and a public acknowledgement of God's hand in his success.

“Expressing gratitude to God for His faithfulness is not optional for a believer. It is worship, and it opens the door for more blessings,” Rev. Benon preached.

He commended Muhwezi for returning thanks to God, describing the gesture as a testimony to God's faithfulness in Kamwenge's leadership.

The clergyman also challenged Christians to dedicate their work, leadership and ambitions to the glory of God rather than pursuing personal gain alone.

He warned against hatred and jealousy, saying such attitudes damage people's relationship with God and hinder spiritual growth.

“Live in love, unity, and humility. That is how we serve God and one another effectively,” he told the congregation.

The thanksgiving service was led by Venerable Rev. Francis Barimusi, the Archdeacon of Nkongoro Archdeaconry, and attracted a large congregation of Christians, church leaders, family members and political supporters.

The event marked both a personal milestone for Muhwezi and a broader call for leaders and residents in Kamwenge to anchor service and development in faith, gratitude and devotion to God.
