Christians mark Easter with calls for faith, reflection
Kasibante called on believers to remain united and emulate Christ, who died on the cross for their sins.

Christians across different churches on Sunday (April 5) gathered for Easter prayers, marking the climax of the Christian calendar with messages centred on sacrifice, salvation, unity and responsible living.
At St Padre-Pio Parish, Kabulamuliro, hundreds of Christians joined the 11:00 am Holy Mass to celebrate Easter alongside Finance State Minister Henry Musasizi and other officials.
The Mass, led by parish priest Fr Remigious Kasibante, reflected on the significance of the Lenten journey and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“We thank God who helped us to pass through 40 days of Lent. And also, we thank Good Samaritans who have helped others in Lent. Alleluia, Alleluia He has risen as he said, this is the song we are singing today.”
He added that the risen Christ reveals who Jesus is, noting that through his suffering, believers come to understand him better and follow him with purpose.
Fr Kasibante reminded Christians that despite the challenges they face, they should remember that Jesus Christ suffered first, and that his resurrection represents victory in their lives. He called on believers to remain united and emulate Christ, who died on the cross for their sins.
He further explained that Easter is a moment for Christians to reflect on the triumph of light over darkness, urging them to remain steadfast in faith.
He noted that several Catholic churches held vigil Masses on Easter eve, during which converts and elderly people were baptised into the Catholic Church. The Mass began in darkness before candles and lights were lit at midnight.
The priest said that candles and lights help Christians to remember that Jesus is the light of the world, and when he rose to life on Easter day, he got rid of the darkness of evil.

He said many people have not fully responded to the gift of salvation, despite the suffering Jesus endured on the cross.
“I would like to wish everyone a happy Easter time and to be conscious that someone suffered so much to serve us.”
Miracle Centre Church Entebbe
At Miracle Centre Church in Entebbe, Pastor Aaron Mutebi also urged Ugandans to embrace the message of Easter and live responsibly.
He called on believers to maintain peace during the festive season and cautioned drivers, including boda boda riders, against reckless behaviour such as driving under the influence of alcohol.
