JINJA —The Busoga Kingdom has postponed the 12th Coronation Anniversary celebrations of Isebantu Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV to allow the nation to mourn Tooro's king Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who died in the USA last week.

The statement issued by the Kingdom’s Prime Minister (Katuukiro), Dr Joseph Muvawala, on September 2nd, stated that the anniversary celebrations scheduled for September 13th, 2026, have been pushed to Saturday, September 19, at the Mayuge District Headquarters grounds in Bunhya Chiefdom.

"This has been done to honour and allow all Ugandans to attend the burial of the fallen monarch of Obukama bwa Tooro Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, which shall coincide with the 12th Coronation anniversary celebrations of the Kyabazinga of Busoga," Muvawala stated.

Despite the shift in the main anniversary event, the Prime Minister confirmed that the upcoming Gabula Day commemorations will proceed as planned, serving as a platform to pay tribute to the late King of Tooro.

"Meanwhile, the Gabula Day commemoration marked for September 9, at Buyende shall go on, and the ceremony shall be used to eulogise the fallen Omukama of Tooro," he added.
