Busoga bishop-elect Lubaale says ready for consecration, seeks Vision Group partnership

Busoga Diocese bishop-elect, the Rev. Can. Assoc. Prof. Dr Grace Lubaale has paid a courtesy call to Vision Group.
During his visit to the company's headquarters in Kampala city on December 4, 2025, Lubaale said he is seeking to partner with the media giant in areas of common interest, including CSR and education.

The bishop-elect also invited the media house's chief executive officer, Don Wanyama, and the staff to his consecration at Jinja city-based Christ's Cathedral.
The 47-year-old cleric, who was elected bishop on October 7, 2025, to replace retiring Bishop Paul Naimanhye, will be consecrated and enthroned as the fourth bishop of Busoga Diocese on December 14, 2025.
He revealed that before his consecration, he will have a farewell service at Bugoloobi Church of Uganda on December 12, after which he will, on the same day, be 'handed over' to Busoga Diocese members at the Jinja bridge.
He outlined areas of possible collaboration that include publishing school materials, advertising, joint prayers, and other programmes of mutual benefit.
Ministry pillars
The bishop-elect said his ministry will be guided by five key pillars: Mission and evangelism, good governance, capacity building, resource mobilisation and effective representation.

He added that, God willing, he will serve for 18 years until he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 65 for bishops in the Church of Uganda.
Lubaale also requested Vision Group to visit the diocese’s churches and church-founded schools in Busoga Diocese for possible collaboration.
“I want to request you to visit us even at Kidera Primary School so that the pupils there can know that even Vision Group’s CEO is a normal person like others. I look forward to our partnership. If you have any programme that needs us, please invite us here, and we will come,” he said.
Vision Group management welcomed the bishop-elect and pledged support for the consecration ceremony.
“We are very excited to have you here. Thank you for coming and congratulations upon being chosen as bishop,” Wanyama said.
Wanyama added that Vision Group, which is the biggest multimedia house in the country, has a good relationship with the Church and other religious institutions, including Muslims, and pledged the company’s support to the Church and the Bishop.
“We are a company that has a very good relationship with the Church. We shall support the activities for now, and for the longer-term relationship, we shall sit down and plan how to work together,” he said.
Wanyama noted that Vision Group is a publishing house that produces educational textbooks, adding that supporting education is one of the company’s key pillars.
Lubaale later prayed for Wanyama, asking God to bless him and fill him with the Holy Spirit and wisdom to lead the company in the right direction.
Church of Uganda’s Busoga Diocese covers areas, including the districts of Jinja city, Kamuli and Jinja.
Lubaale has been serving as the parish priest of Kampala city-based Bugoloobi Church of Uganda.
