Busiro South MP asks religious leaders to join fight against corruption
Opio pledged to remain committed to justice, humility, and integrity in his duties, and asked the population to join him in fighting corruption.

Busiro South Member of Parliament, Kenan Opio, has asked religious leaders to join the fight against corruption by preaching against it whenever they interact with Christians.
Opio said; “Fighting corruption in Uganda should be the work of all citizens if our country is to uphold integrity.”
He echoed President Yoweri Museveni’s declaration of a zero tolerance for corruption, and asked Christians to also support the anti-corruption agenda.
Opio was addressing Christians of St Donozio Sub-Parish Nganjo under St Padre-Pio Catholic Parish Kabulamuliro in Wakiso District on Monday during the celebration of the church Patron’s (St Donozio's) Day on Monday.

Fr Emmanuel Odongo from St Padre-Pio Catholic Shrine celebrated the mass.
On tribalism, Opio said; “In Buganda I am called 'Kimera'. We are all people of God, therefore, we should avoid tribalism and discrimination."
He thanked the people of Busiro South for electing him to serve them as their area MP, noting that; “I was elected to serve the people of this area, and I will be a servant leader. I will focus on fighting poverty in my constituency, but not personal gain.”
He pledged to lobby the Government to tarmac the Kajjansi-Bweya road, saying this will bring more development in the constituency.
According to Sub-Parish Head of Laity, Jancent Ssebaggala, they had started fundraising for the construction of a new Church, which requires sh2.5b. “So far, we are clearing the place where the foundation will sit, as we look for funding from different people.”
At the end of the day sh5m was collected in cash and sh25m in pledges, with Opio contributing sh1m in cash towards the church construction.
During his sermon, Fr Odongo urged Christians to put God before everything they do. "Money should never separate you from God."
He asked Christians and well-wishers to contribute towards the construction of the new church, arguing that blessed are those who contribute towards building God’s house (Church).
