The Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries, Frank Tumwebaze, will today launch one of the biggest irrigation schemes in the country—the Acomai Irrigation Scheme—that is set to benefit the districts of Bulambuli and Bukedea.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among who is also the Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament has been key in pushing for the immediate start of the construction of the 1000-hectare project which will be the biggest in the country.

She noted that the Saturday launch of the construction of the project would go a long way in dealing with the floods that affect the people in the two districts.

The project will be constructed by Dott Services Limited who have just completed the construction of the multi-billion Doho II project that has changed the lives of people in Butaleja district.

The project also comes with associated fringe benefits of roads and boreholes all for socio-economic transformation.
