KISORO - Police have arrested Bufumbira North MP John Kamara and 13 others after they allegedly attacked Police officers who were responding to a report of assault in Kisoro district.

Police say they have preferred charges of aggravated robbery and abduction against the suspects, who include three UPDF bodyguards.

Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Maate said the violence erupted on November 25, 2025, at about 9:00am.

Habyara the Bufumbira, the Bufumbira North Parliamentary candidate, had reported that one of his supporters, Emmanuel Eragena, had been assaulted by Kamara's supporters at Kageyo/Rugabano trading centre.

In response, Samuel Obworot, the officer-in-charge of Nyarubuye Police Station, and Charles Mandali proceeded to the scene to rescue the victim.

“The victims were rescued and rushed to Kisoro Hospital for treatment, and investigations are ongoing. Police will ensure all perpetrators are brought to book,” Maate said.
