HOIMA - Bishop Samuel Kahuma bid farewell to thousands of his flock from St. Paul’s Church Parish in Hoima, urging them to remain united and work towards development.
Bishop Kahuma became the 5th Bishop of the Diocese of Bunyoro Kitara after succeeding Retired Bishop Nathan Kyamanywa.
During his farewell on July 13, 2024, Bishop Kuhuma urged the faithful who pray at Mparo to devote more energy to serving the Church.
Kahuma also encouraged the faithful to collaborate with Rev. Canon Jacob Ateirweho, the incoming Bishop, in their physical and spiritual development.
During the ceremony, Bishop Kahuma confirmed 35 children, and youth and prayed for peace and also commissioned several church projects at the parish.
“I know I will be happy in my retirement but pray for me as I enter another phase of my life. It has been an exciting journey for me and also always visit me and pray for us,” he said.
As the day for the enthronement ceremony draws closer, Bishop Kahuma, disclosed that they were still hunting for approximately shillings 300 million.
Rev. Frank Asiimwe the outgoing parish priest for Mparo COU said that they had finished the construction of the parish house which is being rented out and it boosts the income of the church.
“As we bid farewell to our beloved bishop a lot has been achieved at our parish and we would like to thank him for the guidance and we wish him well,” he said.
Rev. Canon Jacob Ateirweho will be consecrated and enthroned as the 6th Bishop of the Diocese on August 11, 2024, at St Peter’s Cathedral in Hoima City.
Ateirweho was elected by the House of Bishops sitting at Daniel Uganda Mission Leadership Centre in Lweza, Wakiso, on April 17, 2024.
Ateirweho who was ordained a priest on July 23, 2006, is also a holder of a bachelor’s degree in divinity from Uganda Christian University.
