Bishop Joseph Eciru Oliach of Soroti Catholic Diocese has inspired secondary school students to recognise that with Jesus Christ's strength, their commitment, and the guidance of their teachers, they will excel in their studies and anything they set their minds to.
Eciru on Tuesday, September 22, emphasised the importance of being open to learning, encouraging students to embrace knowledge and to show up regularly for guidance from their teachers and peers.
The advice is contained in the bishop's sermon during the confirmation service and blessing of the candidates at Kateta Hill View Secondary School in Serere District.
The bishop encouraged students to be attentive to God's teachings, ensuring that they absorb wisdom by consulting their teachers and reflecting on the Lord’s precepts.
At the same event, the bishop confirmed some students and joined in celebrations of the school's 31st anniversary.
Eciru urged those who received the sacrament of confirmation to remain steadfast in their faith, always guided by the Holy Spirit, and to be witnesses of Christ in their lives.
Esther Lucy Achom, the Serere District Woman Member of Parliament, attended the event and called on parents to continuously pray for their children’s success and brighter futures.
Achom encouraged students to engage in prayer, participate in church activities, and show respect to their parents and teachers, as these qualities are essential for a prosperous future filled with God's blessings.
