KAMPALA - Bidco Uganda Limited has boosted the drive to secure more COVID-19 vaccines by Government with over sh355m ($100,000).

The donation follows a call by government through Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja to the private sector to support its fight against the current global pandemic.

The donation was handed to the Premier by Bidco’s general manager, Anoop Sharma at OPM Auditorium on Tuesday.

Sharma reported to the Prime Minister that their operations were being affected by the pandemic resulting in slowed-down production.

He added that the money will be directly deposited to the official Government Covid-19 Relief Account.

Businessman, Hamis Kiggundu was the first to donate over Sh530m to the cause to secure 15000 doses.

Nabbanja said; “Bidco’s support will go a long way in procuring some doses for our people and I want to thank them for their humanitarian support as we battle the virus.” She added the country will be able to fully reopen the economy after half of the population is vaccinated.
