Ann Hope Anguyo, 41 years, a professional secondary school teacher has since forgotten about her profession after venturing into urban farming.

Ramic Agro-Investments Ltd located at Poloali cell, Oluko ward, Arua city is where Ann Hope Anguyo found her new cash cow.

Anguyo who described COVID-19 pandemic as a blessing in disguise did not return to the classroom after a two-year lockdown on schools to manage the spread of the disease.

Seven years ago in 2018, she started Vendor Capital Finance, a financial institution offering loans and credit services in Arua City.

Anguyo uses the presidents advise on four-acre model to undertake several projects like poultry, piggery, green house, maggot among others on the 1.5 acres of land.

Humble beginning

Anguyo says starting a farm is not very expensive as long as one has the idea, passion and willingness to work since farming needs dedication.

With only sh6m at hand in 2020,Anguyo said she was challenged to start the farming business to change life in the region since a number of trucks continued to reach Westnile with variety of foodstuff like onions, tomatoes, among other when the region has fertile soils.

“Teaching is my profession but farming is my passion, this is where my heart is.  The fact that I am able to change lives in this farm through employment opportunities and making money and impacting on the lives of the people melts my heart and it is the most fulfilling bit for me”, Anguyo added.

This is the tenth year running that Vision Group, together with the Embassy of the Netherlands, KLM Airlines, dfcu Bank and Koudijs Animal Nutrition, are running the Best Farmers competition. The 2025 competition run from March to November, culminating in today’s awards ceremony.
