Army probes Elweru as Gen. Muhoozi strips him of rank amidst UPDF rebel claims

Sources in security alleged that the army was probing reports that Elwelu was mobilising through the defunct Arrow Boys structures and that some of the fighters had been transported to Kampala. The Arrow Boys are a self-defence militia originally formed in 2003 in the Teso sub-region of eastern Uganda to protect local communities from the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency led by Joseph Kony.

Elwelu (Pictured) was appointed deputy CDF in June 2021, serving under Gen. Wilson Mbadi. In March 2024, President Yoweri Museveni replaced the two officers, appointing Gen. Muhoozi as CDF and Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding as his deputy.
