Armed robbers steal sh36m from businessmen in Busia

BUSIA - Police in Busia are investigating an aggravated robbery in which armed men ambushed two employees of TAN Distributors and stole UGX 36.4 million in Busitema Forest.

On February 23, 2025, at around 11:00 AM, Kalpesh Shamji Rathod and his driver, Wafa Oloka Zackary, were travelling from Bugiri to Tororo when three armed men in a silver Toyota Prado blocked their vehicle.

The robbers, wielding an AK-47 rifle, held the victims at gunpoint and stole the money before fleeing towards Tororo.

“No shots were fired, and no injuries were sustained. We are actively pursuing the suspects and will provide updates as investigations progress,” said Moses Mugwe, the acting police spokesperson for Bukedi South Region.
