Security agencies on Sunday, October 15, foiled two bombs that were planted by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists in churches in Kibibi, Butambala District.

President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday revealed that the bombs were reported by vigilant members of the public.

"Further to my morning message about the devastating attacks our Air force carried out against ADF in Congo yesterday, today, through popular vigilance (Wanainchi Kuwa macho), two bombs which the remnants from Congo were planning to plant in churches in Kibibi, Butambala were reported to the Police and defused," Museveni said in a message on his X platform ( formerly Twitter).

He said the Police were working to establish the exact identity of the individuals involved.

"We shall get them wherever they go: Congo, Uganda, South Africa, or wherever they go," Museveni added.

He urged Wanainchi to be vigilant. Report strangers. "Do not accept gifts from strangers. In Kibibi, the pastors had been sent public address systems linked to bombs. However, the Wanainchi were suspicious and reported. The evil plan was foiled, thanks to everybody," Museveni stated.

On Saturday morning, President Museveni urged members of the public in the Rwenzori region to be on the lookout and report any suspicious individuals in their area.

This was after joint forces of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo operating under Operation Shujaa on Saturday hit the bases of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terror group, scattering them.

In a message on X Museveni said, "This is to inform you that yesterday, Saturday, October 14th, 2023, our fighter-bombers paid a visit to the ADF terrorists at 4 different points. These points were 72 km, 120 km, 69 km, and 130kms from the border on the Bundibugyo-Semiliki side. It seems quite several terrorists were killed."

Museveni said as a consequence, the terrorists are running from Congo which they thought was heaven re-entering Uganda and trying to commit some random terrorist acts.

"The attack on a truck carrying onions to the market across the border in Congo the other day, 12kms from the border near Bweera, Kasese, may have been by such elements," Museveni added.

He said, "The public is, therefore, alerted to look out for strange people that come to your area. Report them to the Police that are nearest to you. Even relatives who have been away for a long time and suddenly return. They may be part of the terrorists."

The Saturday attack on ADF bases in DRC is the third within two months following intensified campaigns against the terror group.

On October 4, the joint force yet again bombed ADF bases in the Mambasa territory area.

President Museveni said they attacked 3 targets, 180kms, 184kms, and 200kms, respectively, from the border on the Ntoroko side.

"I congratulate the Air Force, the Special Duties Regiment (SDR), and UPDF in general, on the good work they are doing to protect our Congolese brothers and sisters as well as Ugandans from these spoilt actors who are, moreover, ignorant of what war means," Museveni said.

While explaining this attack, Museveni said the ADF terror group has been inviting "us to pay attention to them by killing Ugandans and we are now responding to the invitation. The attacks are invariably precise and we shall find out, after some time, who and how many terrorists died.

It is futile and very dangerous to the individuals involved, to think that they can kill Ugandans and be safe themselves.

In November 2021, the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo in a joint operation codenamed 'Operation Shujaa' raided the ADF bases in DRC dislodging the terror group from their camps, killing, arresting its members. The joint forces also rescued several abductees.
