62 SFC officers decorated following promotion to new ranks
Congratulating the promoted officers, Nyakikuru reminded them that promotion comes with increased responsibility, accountability and expectations.

A total of 62 officers of the Special Forces Command (SFC) have been decorated following their promotion to new ranks in recognition of their service, commitment and professional conduct.
The officers, comprising 15 senior and 47 junior officers, were decorated today (September 24) during a ceremony presided over by the SFC Commander, Maj Gen. Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru, at the SFC Headquarters in Entebbe, Wakiso district.
He urged them to lead by example, uphold discipline and professionalism, mentor junior personnel, and continuously acquire knowledge and skills to remain adaptable to the demands of modern military operations.
The SFC Commander further challenged the officers to translate their new responsibilities into improved operational readiness, training, physical fitness and professional competence while maintaining cohesion within their formations.
The SFC Deputy Commander, Brig. Gen. John Bosco Asinguza, advised the promoted officers to exercise their authority with courage, humility, justice and restraint, stressing that greater responsibility requires greater accountability.
“Your strength will matter a lot, but most importantly, your character upon the rise in the ranks will matter even more,” Asinguza said.
Speaking on behalf of the decorated officers, Lt. Col. Nicholas Kagaba, Commander of the 17th Field Engineers Brigade, expressed appreciation to the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) leadership for recognising their service and pledged their continued commitment to serving Uganda with loyalty, integrity, discipline and courage.
He urged fellow officers to use their new authority to build themselves, develop those under their leadership and contribute to strengthening the UPDF.
The ceremony was also attended by the SFC Director of Human Resource Management, Col. Night Ikiriza, who read the citations, as well as SFC group and brigade commanders and their deputies, other directors, officers, non-commissioned officers and spouses.
