58 companies receive end-of-year recognition awards

At least 58 public and private companies have received recognition awards for their outstanding contribution towards building a national economy that is consistent with a firm foundation of realizing the 2040 vision.

At the ceremony that was attended by government officials, ministerial representatives, private sector companies, non-governmental organisations and the business fraternity in Uganda, companies were awarded in different categories.

“We recognize the best trade supporting organization, best renewable energy supporting company, best manufacturing company, best refugees’ international organization, best skins and hides exporting company among other fields of education, science and technology, health, agriculture, manufacturing, dairy production, transport, banking, oil and gas and humanitarian sectors in Uganda,” Hon. Wilson Muruli Mukasa, the Minister of Public Service said while handing over the awards.

The event was at Serena Hotel Conference Centre in Kampala Thursday, November 24.

“I am recognizing the outstanding figures who have immensely contributed to the stabilization of our economy which has suffered at the hands of external factors of international wars, outbreak of global pandemics like COVID-19 and Ebola among other bottlenecks in our African societies,” Muruli added.

The Chairperson National Planning Authority, Prof. Pamela Kasabiiti Mbabazi, asked Ugandans to engage in Science and Technology advancements to expand research and production of goods and services to aid Uganda to move faster towards achieving the 2040 vision.

“The world has changed and we need to move fast and start considering local production based on innovations and research,” Mbabazi added.

Among the recognized companies included; Uganda National Civil Aviation Authority, Uganda Petroleum Authority, National Drug Authority, Kinyara Sugar Works Limited, Bar Aviation Uganda, Rainbow International School, Mengo Hospital, pearl Diaries, Rene Industries Limited.

Others were Arab Contractors Uganda Limited, Bidco Uganda Limited, Trade Mark East Africa, Hoopoe Trading Limited, Forum for African Women Educationalists, Dan Church Aid Uganda and Bukona Agro Processors Limited among others.
