The Electoral Commission has created 66 new polling stations in Gulu city ahead of the general elections.
The new polling stations are an addition to the existing 188 stations used during the 2021 general elections, bringing the total number to 254 polling stations in Gulu city.
Of these, Laroo–Pece Division has 142 polling stations, while Bardege–Layibi Division has 112.
Mike Jjuuko, the Electoral Commission officer for Gulu city, told Radio Rupiny that the voting process this time will involve the use of biometric voter verification machines to verify voters and scan the ballot papers cast.
According to Jjuuko, each polling station will have not more than 600 voters, since some polling stations had up to 900 voters in the 2021 polls.
Jjuuko urged voters to collect their voter location slips from their Ward supervisors in order to know the specific polling stations where they will cast their votes.
Gulu City has a total of 120,294 voters with Laroo-Pece Division having 66,559 and Bardege-Layibi Division 53,735.
