200 baptized as SDA Christians start the New Year in prayers

KASSANDA - Christians in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the West Buganda Field have gathered for their beginning-of-year corporate prayer.

The gathering was held on Sunday at Kigalama playground, in Myanzi Sub County Kassanda district.

Delivering his sermon, West Buganda Field bishop, Godfrey Lubwama, congratulated Christians upon completing 2023 and prayed that the New Year comes with God’s blessings, protection, and provision.

Lubwama emphasized the need to have more Christians strengthen their faith in Christ and put more effort into preaching the gospel.

“We want to see the number of Christians doubling and with strong faith,” he said.

In addition, the Church wants to improve family life by emphasizing model homes where families where couples live in harmony and bring up children who are God-fearing and law-abiding citizens.

West Baganda field covers areas of Mityana, Kassanda, Mubende, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, and part of Gomba.

Economic empowerment is another priority area the church will focus on.

“We want to see the income and financial status of the people in the region improving and even see the infrastructure development, this can only be possible if Christians have a stable income,” he said.

He urged them to use any available opportunities such government programs.
The main preacher, the Uganda Union Director for Chaplaincy Pastor Ivan Ssebaggala asked Christians to begin the year by putting their trust in God.

Ssebaggala noted that many Uganda may have faced a lot of challenges but only God has solutions to their problems.

As the prayer gathering ended, the pastors baptized over two hundred Christians and asked them to grow their faith in God.
