13 Ugandans set for East and Central Athletics Championships

With no Under 20 athlete having yet met the qualification mark for the World Athletics Championships, the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) deemed it imperative to field a team in Zanzibar.

Uganda has sent a contingent of 13 athletes to the East and Central Athletics Championships in Zanzibar, with the aim of meeting qualification standards for the U20 World Athletics Championships, scheduled for August 27 to 31 in Lima, Peru.

With no Under 20 athlete having yet met the qualification mark for the World Athletics Championships, the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) deemed it imperative to field a team in Zanzibar.

Set to begin on April 26 to 27, team coach Justine Bayiga exudes confidence in their prospects for success. 

"My athletes are in good shape, and I believe that if everything remains constant, we shall return home in glory. We have had ample time to rest and train. We are just awaiting the event," Bayiga affirmed.

As these talented athletes prepare to compete, hopes are high for their achievements on the track in Zanzibar and beyond.

Under 18:   Yeko Bentalin (F) 3000m ,  Osutaa Dison (M) 400m and Chebet Keziah (F) 3000m.

Under 20  :  Anamu Vicky (F) 400m/200m , Chekwemoi Felistar (F) 1500m Chekwemoi Vicky (F) 3000m, Adilu Francis (M) 400m , O'Mara Raymond (M) 800m , Kiprop Hosea (M) 1500m and  Yeko Sam (M) 5000m
