KAMPALA - Two parents are desperately hunting for their missing ten-year-old son, only identified as Nathan Kgosi, who was last seen in Makindye on Thursday last week.
He does not talk, but like any other 10-year-old boy, Nathan Kgosi spends most of his time playing with his friends. However, Kgosi did not return home last Thursday after playing with his friends
According to Brenda Mbabazi, who is Kgosi’s mother, they are still waiting for Kgosi to return home. She says they have looked for him everywhere they cannot find him.
Mbabazi consequently reported the case of her missing son to Kawempe Police. A file with case number 126/05/06/25 has been registered at the Kawempe Police post.
Mbabazi described Kgosi as tall and thin; he also has a visible birthmark on his neck just above his back, which is so visible even when he is fully clothed.
The boy’s biological father is in South Africa and has not yet been notified about the incident.
Patrick Tumuhairwe, Kgosi’s stepfather, narrated the events that transpired the moment before Kgosi disappeared.
Tumuhairwe is an audio engineer and graphics designer whose duty station is along Nasser Road, in Kampala.
“He went playing with friends like usual, then we tried looking for him during lunchtime since he normally comes back home, but he didn’t come back, so we made a report,” Tumuhairwe revealed.
Tumuhairwe made these remarks on Tuesday, during a phone interview with New Vision. The stepfather also revealed that the boy has been missing for five days since Thursday 5, June 2025, to date.
“Nathan normally comes back home for occasions like lunch, but the day he didn’t come back, we started looking.”
When asked about the whereabouts of Kgosi’s biological father, Tumuhairwe revealed that the boy’s father is in South Africa, but he has not been supportive of his son’s situation.
Tumuhairwe is the one who has been taking full responsibility for the boy’s welfare.
The boy has autism and is not able to talk. He has a speech impairment.
By press time, the police officer’s contact who had received the case could not be reached for comment.
