The sunny afternoon at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi served well the Victoria Pearl's ambitions of qualifying for the maiden World Cup as they beat the USA by eight wickets with 10 balls remaining at the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier.

Lawrence Ssematimba’s charges limited the USA to only 110 runs with five wickets in 20 overs at the scoreboard.

Sarah Akiteng, Sarah Walaza, and Rita Musamali each picked up a wicket for the Victoria Pearls.

Victoria Pearls started their innings on a low note after Proscovia Alako faced a catch from Sriharsha on the fifth ball of the first over with no run in her name on the scoreboard.

Esther Iloku paired with Immaculate Nakisuyi to the fourth over before seeing a catch with only two runs from 10 balls.

It needed a long-experienced pair of Nakisuuyi and StephanieNampina to resurrect Uganda’s hopes in Abu Dhabi.

The pair scored 104 runs with Nakisuuyi putting up a woman-of-the-match performance with 68 runs of 64 balls while Nampina settled for 33 off 27 balls to give Uganda a crucial 8-wicket win in the tournament.

Victoria Pearls lost the first game against Scotland by 105 runs and today’s win against the USA, team captain Janet Mbabazi believes has boosted the players' morale ahead of the next fixture.

Immaculate Nakisuuyi who picked the woman of the match accolade was excited after the game. “I am excited about contributing this all to my team and we need to believe in everyone in the remaining games."

Today's win put Uganda in the third position of Group A with two points from two games.
