Uganda Insurers Association boosts Bugembe HC IV with medical equipment

The Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) has donated essential medical equipment to Bugembe Health Centre IV in Jinja City in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare service delivery and improving the wellbeing of communities in the region.
The donation, which was part of the 58th UIA Annual General Meeting activities held at Jinja Nile Resort, underscores the insurance industry's commitment to supporting public health and advancing social responsibility beyond its core business of risk management.
The equipment is expected to enhance the health facility's capacity to provide quality medical services to thousands of residents who depend on it for primary and emergency healthcare.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, held in Jinja last week, officials from the Uganda Insurers Association and executive committee led by UIA chairperson Ruth Namuli said the initiative reflects their commitment to improving lives through strategic investments in community health, recognizing that healthy communities are fundamental to sustainable socio-economic development.
"Insurance is about protecting lives and livelihoods. Our responsibility extends beyond providing financial protection to supporting initiatives that improve the quality of life for the communities we serve. We believe that strengthening healthcare facilities contributes to healthier and more resilient communities," Namuli noted.
This he added reflects the insurance industry’s continued commitment to creating a positive impact in communities beyond insurance.
“Today we are showing the residents of Bugembe that as insurers, we consider them vital to our business and it’s important that we support the cause aimed at improving the health facilities to boost services offered.
Bugembe Health Centre IV serves a rapidly growing population in Jinja and the surrounding areas, providing a range of services including maternal and child healthcare, outpatient treatment, emergency care and disease prevention programmes.
The newly donated medical equipment is expected to improve efficiency in patient care, reduce service delivery challenges and enhance the facility's ability to respond to the healthcare needs of the community.
"We are grateful for this generous contribution from the Uganda Insurers Association. The equipment will strengthen our service delivery and enable our health workers to provide better care to the people who rely on this facility every day," a representative of Bugembe Health Centre IV said.
The initiative highlights the growing role of private sector organizations in complementing government efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and access to quality medical services. Through corporate social responsibility programmes, businesses continue to contribute towards addressing challenges in health, education and community development.
The insurance sector has increasingly embraced initiatives that promote resilience and wellbeing, recognizing that investments in health not only improve individual lives but also contribute to national productivity and economic growth.
