Serere District has confirmed two more child deaths related to measles, bringing the total number of fatalities to three since the outbreak was reported.
Dr Daniel Ogwal, the District Health Officer, says the situation remains alarming and has prompted the district to launch a four-day mass vaccination campaign targeting children aged 6 to 69 months.
According to Dr Ogwal, the campaign, which started yesterday and runs through Sunday, aims to vaccinate at least 77,000 children across the district.
He is now urging parents and guardians to take the lead in protecting their children by ensuring they receive the measles vaccine during this critical window.
