The honeymoon is as exciting as it is adventurous. It is a time for the newlyweds to get away and spend some quality time recovering from the wedding and rediscovering each other.

Jennifer Mwami a travel consultant says that preparing for travel is not as easy as it sounds.

" Because most couples travel soon after the wedding there is little time to pay attention and double-check things which leads to disorganized trips. You can forget your travel documents and realise only when you are at the airport or departing point, for instance," she says.

Therefore, packing should be done about a fortnight before the wedding for ease and comfort of the couple.  Mwami says the first and most important thing should be the travel documents. Passports, IDs cheque books, vaccination cards, and credit cards, should be the first in the bag.

" Get a purse where you keep all those important documents and put them in first. There is nothing worse than missing a flight or a boat because you left your documents in the bedroom drawer or the kitchen counter at home," she says.

Next, park a first aid kit. This should have bandages, ointments, plasters, disinfectants, painkillers and other first-aid equipment. If any of you is on specific medication remember to pack it. Things like inhalers should be on hand for any emergencies.

Pack your ordinary skin care products like facial creams, lotions, serums, bath gels, and so on. However, Anita Mirembe, a dealer in cosmetics says that there should be additional protective ones like sunscreen, not lower than 30 SPF, and insect repellent to shield you from stings and bites.

" Also carry hats to protect your face from the sun and sunglasses for your eyes," she adds.

Depending on where you will be honeymooning, pack the appropriate clothes for the expected activity.

" If the terrain will be rough, pack boots, if it will be cold, carry warm clothing and if you expect any aqua activity like swimming, or snorkeling, pack swimsuits," Mwami says.

Any gadgets like laptop's mobile phones will need charging so remember to carry your charger and an all-in-one plug adapter so that your device plugs can fit into any size socket.  A powerfully charged power bank should start you off on your journey.

For storage of memories take along a portable camera or cam coder, to record footage you will look back on years later.
