The scientist, who is currently developing a multi-billion-dollar drugs and vaccines manufacturing plant in Matugga, says he has more than 100 patents filed in the US for treating different diseases and vaccines, including cancer, HIV, Alzheimer's, Malaria, TB, Diabetes, among others.

One of his patents encodes darbepoetin, a therapeutic protein used for the treatment of acute kidney failure and cancer using mRNA, is the first such product in the world that has already been submitted to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for approval review.

The FDA has reportedly taken great interest in advising Magoola on how to bring this product to patients worldwide.

Museveni also thanked Ugandan government partners, including those from the United States, who are supporting these efforts of Ugandan scientists.

He also used the occasion to congratulate the People’s Republic of China on their long-standing cooperation with Africa since 1949.
