Kidney Care: Ugandan doctor’s innovation reduces cost of dialysis
According to a study titled The Global Perspectives on Acute Kidney Injury in Uganda, co-authored by Dr Grace Kansiime, Prof. Robert Kalyesubula, and Dr Dan Oriba Langoya, 95% of acute kidney injury cases in Uganda are community-acquired.
“Without dialysis, you die,” Dr Robert Kalyesubula, a nephrologist says. To avert this crisis, the Government recently launched five regional dialysis units in Hoima, Kawempe, Mbarara, Mbale and Lira.
